SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Jadyn Behm singled to score Hannah Nelson in the fifth inning, but the Coeur d'Alene Crush 14-and under softball team was unable to close out the Buckeye Heat (Ohio), falling 2-1 in their second and final game in pool play at the 114-team Super Nationals tournament on Tuesday.
Coeur d'Alene won on Monday and will be the second seed and face the Blue Springs Fireballs of Kansas City today to start double-elimination tournament play.
"We played really well," Crush coach Julie Stark said. "It was just one of those games where whoever made the first mistake was going to lose it."
Tied at 1 in the bottom of the seventh, the Heat put runners on first and third due to a throwing error and won it on a single with nobody out.
