SANDPOINT - The Bulldogs were able to plate two runs in the first inning of both games against Moscow, but ace Raelynn Gosse put up goose eggs the rest of the way, leading the Bears to a sweep in a 4A Inland Empire League doubleheader at Travers Park.

Laurel Presser and Maggie Kirscher each ripped a double, and Kayanna Quigley scored a run in the first game, but the Bulldogs (1-5, 0-4 4A IEL) were outhit 17-4 as Gosse went the distance.

Carlie Hoerth held the Bears (5-4, 3-1 4A IEL) in check in the nightcap, as the Bulldogs trailed 4-2 heading into the sixth inning. Hoerth and Quigley each had two hits in defeat, while Presser and Kirscher each hit a double.

Despite the losses, Bulldogs coach Derek Dickinson said his team is much improved from last season and is playing with more competitive fire.

"We played some softball today and had some nice stretches," he said. "The offense just didn't come through today."
