| April 12, 2012 10:00 PM

Ruth Brooks passed away April 10, 2012. She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1947 and married her loving husband Ralph Brooks in December 1951.

She was a lifelong member of the North Idaho Mineral Club, and was the longest acting president. She was also an honorary lifetime member of the Rock Rollers Gem and Mineral Club in Spokane. Ruth enjoyed embroidering baby quilts, dish towels, pillow cases, etc. She was a familiar face in local craft shows where she sold her beautiful hand sewn items. She was also known for her 2,000 plus sets of salt and paper shakers she collected from all parts of the world.

Later in life, one of Ruth’s most enjoyable times were her yearly trips to the Oregon Coast with her daughter and “adopted” daughter. Ruth also enjoyed spending time with her family especially in the summer sun drinking a nice cold beer. Ruth was an amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We will all miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Brooks and daughter Carol Opferman.

She is survived by daughter Margaret Eddings and son-in-law Joe Eddings; son Walter Brooks and daughter-in-law Judy Brooks; granddaughters, Kelli Eddings, Jolynn Holt, Sarah Edmunds, Wendy Christmann and their spouses; grandsons, Josh Eddings, Wayne Brooks and their spouses along with 14 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835.

A private family graveside service will be held at Forest Cemetery. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Margaret’s residence, 2769 W. Poleline Ave., Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in care of the arrangements.
