Post Falls Mayor Clay Larkin gets flocked

| April 3, 2012 9:15 PM

Mayor Clay Larkin was surprised Monday morning to find a flock of pink flamingos had taken up residence on the front yard of his Post Falls residence.

It's an occupation movement of a different feather.

The pink flamingos were placed on Larkin's lawn sometime overnight by members of the Post Falls Kiwanis Club as part of an effort to raise money for children's programs and scholarships in the community.

"What an eye opener when you open the curtains. I think it is a great fundraiser for the Kiwanis, and wish them the best of luck, and yes, I am going to nominate others," Larkin said.

For a donation of $20 to $40, anyone can have a friend or relative's yard flocked. Anti-flocking insurance is also available for a small donation.

Last year, the Post Falls Kiwanis Club gave $5,000 in scholarships to Post Falls college-bound high school students, $2,900 to community projects, as well as time and energy donated to many other programs and organizations.
