Shawna Lee Thomas Schensky, 51

| September 26, 2011 10:00 PM

Shawna was born April 24, 1960, to James D. and Donna Thomas in Idaho Falls. She grew up with her family in Dubois and graduated from Clark County High School in 1978 as Salutatorian. She then attended Idaho State University Technical College and began her career working for the state of Idaho. She loved her time working for the Idaho State Police in Idaho Falls and most recently Coeur d'Alene.

Shawna loved the outdoors, camping, hiking, boating and gardening. She loved to needlepoint and always had pets. She especially loved dogs and having them with her. Shawna was a very kind, generous, caring person; enriching the lives of everyone she touched.

She passed away Sept. 21, 2011, on the North Fork of the Flathead River in Montana as a result of a kayaking accident. She was always ready for the next adventure, and we loved her with all our hearts and will miss her.

She is survived by her husband, Guy Schensky of Coeur d'Alene; her parents, Jim and Donna Thomas of Dubois; her sister, Shelli and brother-in-law Jim Bardsley; and nephews Matthew and Nathan Bardsley of Pocatello.

A memorial service to celebrate Shawna's life will be held at 3 p.m. today, Sept. 28, 2011, at New Life Community Church, 6068 Hayden Ave., Rathdrum.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Kootenai County Police and Fire Memorial Foundation at Box 1748, Hayden, ID 83835.
