| September 14, 2011 9:00 PM

Rathdrum police are investigating a string of weekend vehicle and residential burglaries.

Police responded to a home burglary on Pine Street on Saturday at 2:40 a.m. Two suspects entered the home through a dog door and stole several items.

"The victim reported that she heard two voices and saw flashlights around the home prior to calling the police," a press release states.

Later that morning, officers responded to several vehicle and residential burglary calls on Arbor Street, Quail Ridge, Lofty Ridge and Coeur d'Alene Street.

Unknown suspects entered two vehicles, stealing personal items such as a purse, credit cards, two bicycles and prescription pills.

The suspects may also be responsible for entering a locked storage shed stealing a weed eater and also breaking into two homes stealing various items including a handgun.

During the followup investigation, it was learned that two victims heard voices and saw flashlights shining around their homes. A loud pickup was also heard in the area of the burglaries.

On Sunday morning, one of the stolen credit cards was used at a convenience store in Hayden.

Those with information are urged to call Detective Ken Owens at 687-0711.

Residents are asked to contact police if they see suspicious activity in their neighborhood.
