McEUEN: Last word from a first-timer
First time commenter! I guess I'm officially "older" now that I'm pushing 65 and in need of complaining.
Read My Turn in Local section of the Aug. 31 Press. Kept sounding "uh-huh" after the points Ms. Rita and Ms. Julie made of the grand McEuen plan - My "uh-huh's," though, were me being a little cynical rather than releasing wonderment.
I've seen it a few times before, maybe enough that it could be considered routine, and that is "What you see is NOT what you get!" The master plan pictured beauty and utility to entice the citizen for approval... how fantastic this would all be for everyone... (uh-huh)... "Let's start with the underground parking and ‘hole-sale' grading and maybe there will be money left over for something you'd like" (uh-huh).
Imagine how much the curb appeal of the properties across the street would increase (uh-huh). Maybe a couple more condo-towers could be pondered. Idea! Take the seven refinements noted within the "My Turn" article, make an artist's rendition, and put it on a referendum as choice "B" against the aforementioned master plan - the one that's part of a 50-year plan - (uh-huh), then let the citizen decide wha-sup.
Great summarizing article. An efficient transition for McEuen - something the elected officials and the rest of the suits downtown could be expected to consider! (uh-huh)
There, now I feel better. How was my first time for you?
