Fister fans 13 in Tigers' win

Former Seattle Mariner Doug Fister struck out a career-high 13, Victor Martinez hit a three-run homer and the visiting Detroit Tigers extended their AL Central lead to 7 1/2 games with a 4-2 win over the Cleveland Indians.

Fister (7-13) improved to 4-1 in seven starts since being acquired from Seattle on July 30. The right-hander gave up an earned run and four hits over eight innings.

Yankees 11, Orioles 10: Jesus Montero broke a fifth-inning tie with his first major league home run, then hit a two-run drive in the seventh to help host New York outlast Baltimore for its fifth straight win.

Blue Jays 1, Red Sox 0, 11 inn.: Brett Lawrie homered in the 11th inning to help host Toronto end a three-game losing streak.

Lawrie homered to center off Dan Wheeler with two outs in the 11th, his eighth homer since being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Aug. 4.

Rays 5, Rangers 1: At St. Petersburg, Fla., James Shields pitched a four-hitter for his major league-best 11th complete game to lead Tampa Bay.

White Sox 2-4, Twins 1-0: At Minneapolis, Philip Humber pitched seven scoreless innings in the first game, Juan Pierre had three hits and scored a run, and Chicago ended a four-game skid.

Chicago rookie Zach Stewart took a perfect game into the eighth and finished with a one-hitter as the White Sox completed a doubleheader sweep of the Minnesota.

Royals 11, Athletics 6: Billy Butler homered twice and drove in three runs, Alex Gordon doubled home the go-ahead run and visiting Kansas City scored five times in the ninth inning.

Brewers 4, Cardinals 1: Randy Wolf allowed one run over eight innings and Ryan Braun and Nyjer Morgan homered to lead Milwaukee at St. Louis.

Diamondbacks 10, Rockies 7: At Denver, Geoff Blum homered and Wade Miley tossed seven strong innings for streaking Arizona.

Nationals 7, Dodgers: Michael Morse hit two of host Washington's four homers and John Lannan pitched into the sixth inning to break a four-start losing streak.

Pirates 3, Astros 1: Ryan Doumit had three hits and host Pittsburgh's James McDonald pitched into the eighth inning for the first time this season.

Cubs 4, Reds 3: Matt Garza pitched eight strong innings and Aramis Ramirez had a tiebreaking two-run single in host Chicago's win over Cincinnati.

Giants 7, Padres 2: Pablo Sandoval homered twice, Madison Bumgarner struck out a career-high 13 in 8 1-3 innings and visiting San Francisco beat San Diego to remain seven games behind NL West-leading Arizona with 21 to play.

Marlins 9, Mets 3: At Miami, Javier Vazquez pitched seven strong innings, Jose Lopez homered and Florida beat New York.

Phillies 9, Braves 0: Cliff Lee tossed a five-hitter for his sixth shutout of the season, helping host Philadelphia beat Atlanta.
