PROMISE: We'll be back, families

| September 4, 2011 10:00 PM

Thank you for your recent coverage of Family Promise. I want to stress that we are not going away, we are taking a hiatus from services to strengthen our funding. Winter is coming. We are the only shelter that is designed for children and their families in North Idaho. Our emergency services must be present in North Idaho.

Services are delivered through our network of congregations and volunteers. The article indicated that our guests were living at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, well, they might have felt like they lived there; that is the location of our family friendly Day Center, set up to be like a home office for our guests to work toward sustainability while working with our case manager, who is currently on hiatus.

I wanted to make sure that the heart and soul of our organization, the 17 host and support congregations, were represented with this article. They are rallying for children and families through prayer, service and the Cardboard Box City. Our donors and the community are seeking to help in every way they can October is coming fast and we fully intend to reopen. Thank you Kootenai County, our families need you!
