Steven C. Reiter, 65

Steven C. Reiter, 65, of Hayden, died Oct. 6, 2011. He was born in Portland, Ore., to Wen and Carolyn Reiter.

Steve was an avid sports fan and when he was young he played basketball and baseball. He graduated from Grant High in 1964. While attending Clark Community College he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Steve was on board the U.S. Kitty Hawk as an Aerographers Mate during the Vietnam War. He married Virginia O'Brien while stationed in London, England, where two daughters, Debbie and Lara, were born. Steve came back home in 1974 after the marriage ended.

Steve met Linda Lensch and they were married in 1976 in Portland. Adding to the family was Christopher and Shannon. He was a shop supervisor and CPA before joining Schwan's Enterprises. He was sales manager in Everett, Wash., before retiring to Hayden in 1999. Linda got cancer, so Steve went to work at Overhead Door in Post Falls where he retired once again. Steve was a member in the Hayden Chamber, Hayden Lake Eagles, Coeur d'Alene Elks and American Legion.

Steve is survived by wife Linda; son Christopher of Hayden; daughters Debbie, Lara of London and Shannon of Hayden; sisters Anita Aaron of McMinnville, Ore., and Wendy Swart of Portland; two grandchildren, Sofie and Hallie of London; and numerous nephews and nieces.

A celebration of Steve's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at the Hayden Lake Eagles Lodge No. 4080, 1520 W. Wyoming Ave.
