| October 21, 2011 9:00 PM

PRIEST RIVER - The third time's a charm for the Timberlake girls cross country team, which won its third straight 3A District 1 championship on Thursday and now looks to capture its third straight state title.

Junior Ashly George grabbed her third straight district title as well, leading the way with a time of 19 minutes, 8 seconds for the Tigers, who fielded eight of the top 10 runners at the Ranch Club Golf Course.

"We set goals of trying to get our girls in the 1-5 gap to finish within 1:30 of each other and be district champs, which we did," Timberlake coach Shawn Lawler said. "It feels different each time, but they're all great and it's always special seeing all those uniforms up front like that. I feel fortunate to have worked with this group of girls. They're the cream of the crop."
