OPEN HOUSE FOR THE AIRPORT MASTER PLAN HAYDEN?The Coeur d'Alene Airport will hold a public open house for the Airport Master Plan project, prepared with assistance from Mead & Hunt, and T-O Engineers. Forest Service, Northern Region Idaho Panhandle National Forests Bonners Ferry Ranger District Boundary County, Idaho The Forest Service is proposing to treat vegetation on approximately 615 acres of National Forest System lands in the vicinity of Leonia Knob in the Boulder Creek area of Boundary County. The project area is located in Sections (or portions of) 15, 16, 21, 22, 28 and 29, T61N, R3E of the Boise Meridian. The project area boundary encompasses approximately 1,900 acres in the Lower Boulder Creek and Kootenai River above Bonners Ferry watersheds east of Gable Creek and west of the Kootenai River. The proposed action would treat vegetation by using a combination of silvicultural prescriptions including uneven-aged management (group selection) and even-aged management (shelterwood with reserves) and would be accomplished through both ground-based and skyline logging systems. Fuels would be treated by implementing prescribed burning across 97% of the project area with a minor amount of mechanical piling and pile burning. The proposed action would also construct approximately 1.5 miles of temporary road (to be obliterated following harvest activities), put into storage 3.0 miles of roads, and decommission 1.8 miles of roads.
