Betty Henderson, 87

Betty Jane (Albee) Henderson, 87, of Post Falls, died peacefully Oct. 8, 2011, at home. She was born March 6, 1924, in Dewey, Burnett County, Wis., to Lester and Anna (Walker) Albee of Spooner, Wis.

Betty married Harold Martin Henderson on Dec. 13, 1942, in Spooner. She was a loyal wife of 27 years with her husband who made his career in Class A construction over the Western USA. Over the years, Harold and Betty resided in eight states in the West and Midwest living in 35 locations, and she always made a home there as they moved from job to job including Southern California and the Grand Coolie Dam.

Betty enjoyed baseball and lived to see her San Francisco Giants win the World Series. She was deeply committed to raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren over 35 years. Betty remained active in their activities whether school, little league, music or scouting. She was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran in San Jose and Christ the King Lutheran in Coeur d'Alene. Betty spent her last 10 years living near or with her daughter, Kathleen, in Post Falls.

She is survived by her sister, Shirley (Albee) Sweet of Minneapolis, Minn.; daughters, Kathleen Connolly and husband Jackson of Post Falls, and Karen Hoopes and husband Donald of Vancouver, Wash.; a son, Martin Henderson and wife Kristin of San Jose, Calif.; grandsons, James Connolly and wife Sara of Bozeman, Mont., Jeremy Laden and wife Sandra of Portland, Ore.; granddaughters, Saundra Laden of Benson, Ariz., and Katelyn and Karlie Henderson of San Jose; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Terry and brothers, Lester "Bud," Sidney "Sid" and Raymond "Ray."

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at Christ the King Lutheran Church with Yates Funeral Home in care of the arrangements.
