EDINGER: Doing it the right way

| October 12, 2011 10:00 PM

In the very near future the registered voters of Coeur d'Alene will have an opportunity to decide who will have a seat on the City Council. The people you elect will play an important role in making decisions regarding the changes made to McEuen Field and the Third Street boat launch.

As it appears now, it seems like a "done deal" but some adjustments may be in the near future. When I think of voting for council members I think of incumbent Ron Edinger.

I have known Ron for the past 55 years. Ron's history of public service is unmatched by anyone. I had a chance to talk to Ron about his view of the McEuen Park changes. He let me know that he is not against "changes." Change is important and can be good. But he stated that it's important to do it the right way. Change that will benefit the majority, not a select few. And he felt that everyone should have the opportunity to be heard.

Those of you who attended the McEuen Team meeting at Woodland School saw how Ron, outnumbered six to one, stood up to the mayor and council members and asked that a vote be considered regarding changes to McEuen Park. That night Ron stood head and shoulders above the rest.

The voters will do a great service to the city of Coeur d'Alene by voting for him in the upcoming election.
