PICNIC: Sponsors key to success

Once again it is my pleasure to express gratitude on behalf of the residents of Dalton Gardens to our local business sponsors that support our annual picnic and potluck held on Sept. 10. This event would not be possible without the generosity of our many local business sponsors.

I wish to recognize all of the city employees and volunteers that donate their time to coordinate this community event. Your time and support is what makes this gathering for our city a wonderful tradition that many residents look forward to each year.

I would like to give a special thanks to our main sponsors for their longtime support: Super 1 Foods in Hayden and STCU. I'd also like to thank the Phuddy Duddies Cruisers for bringing their classic cars to our picnics. Everyone loves to see your cool cars and it makes the picnic fun for all! I'd also like to show appreciation for the food donations from the Pita Pit, Mackenzie River Pizza Company and Chili's restaurants. Thanks to Meghan and Mindy from the Pita Pit for dishing out those tasty chicken pita's and to Kelly and Anne from STCU for the luscious ice cream treats. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed having the new variety!

I would also like to thank all of the following businesses for their generous donations of gift cards, gift certificates or gift baskets for our prize drawing: Abbocare Nutritionals, Applebee's Restaurant, Angelo's Ristorante, Bistro on Spruce, Black Sheep Sporting Goods, Caruso's Sandwich Co. - Coeur d'Alene, Chili's Restaurant, Coeur d'Alene Chocolates, Couture Salon, Creative Touch Floral, Glamour Hair Design, Great Harvest Bread, Greenbriar Inn Catering & Lodging, Just Because Fashion & Gifts, Kootenai Coffee, Mackenzie River Pizza, Mixed Goods Boutique, Olive Garden, Outback Steak House, Papa Murphy's Pizza, Pastry & More, Paul's Country Store, Shimmer Salon, Silverlake Automotive, Squeaky's Car Wash, Sunflower Cottage & Villa Decor & Flowers, Super 1 Foods, The Country Gift Store and Tomato Street.

Thank you to Jamm's Frozen Yogurt and Top This Frozen Yogurt & Treats for their discount coupons and to Rick Hampton of Coyote Steel for donating the use of the barbecue grill for cooking! I also need to thank Kelly from STCU and Jo, Vanessa and Trisha Braun for all their help during the prize drawing.

I encourage all of our residents to support these sponsors by patronizing their local businesses. These businesses employ our local residents, friends and neighbors and we wish them continued success and prosperity throughout the coming year. I invite all of our Dalton Gardens residents to attend next year's picnic. We can always use more volunteers and it is a great way to meet your neighbors and to be involved in your community. Thanks again to all who helped make this year's picnic a success and a continuing American tradition! See you all next year!

Sincerely,

KNIGHTS: Thanks to many supporters

The Knights of Columbus in Coeur d'Alene, Hayden Lake, Post Falls and Rathdrum wish to thank the generous people who supported our annual Tootsie Roll fundraiser to benefit the Special Olympics and TESH Inc., a local organization that assists the developmentally disabled in North Idaho.

Our special thanks to the area stores that allowed us to conduct the fundraiser in front of their stores.
