POWER: Balance needed on council

| November 4, 2011 10:00 PM

The City Council is loaded with Progressive Democrats and they want to keep it that way. Like their idol Obama, they spend millions of our tax dollars to keep control of this city. They negotiate extravagant salaries to earn employee loyalty who don't even know how to properly transfer ownership title or secure proper agreements when building the new library.

They continue to alter downtown to suit special interests. They don't care what we think about their proposed changes to the boat ramp or ball field. They believe that since they're in office, they have absolute power over us. Don't let the City Council continue their pandering and dictatorship.

The City Council has let the LCDC run amuck for years! As an example, the LCDC gave $8.1 million tax dollars to the Riverstone Development which had now defaulted on the condos and the theater and long buildings on either side. In their infinite spending spree, they gave us our own personal Solyndra type debacle. Now they want to give Riverstone West another $900,000!

In the City Council's effort to buy city employee and union votes, city salaries have reached epidemic proportions. We have 19 city positions making more than $100,000! Comparable cities: Twin Falls has (4) and Caldwell has (0). Five (5) city employees have salaries that exceed our governor's salary and their comparable positions in Boise which is four times our size.

We must end this insanity and return common sense to the council. We need council members that will respect transparency, our current economic situation and the public's right to vote up or down on the boat ramp and ball park. For these reasons you should vote for Dan Gookin, Steve Adams and Ron Edinger for City Council.
