Boise County sheriff's deputy faces drunken driving charge

BOISE (AP) - A Boise County sheriff's deputy faces a charge of driving under the influence after crashing his patrol car last week while he was off duty.

KTVB-TV reports Deputy Nate Deuel's patrol car went off the side of a dirt road at 3:23 a.m. on Oct. 27 and rolled. The car came to rest in a pasture and was severely damaged.

Deuel reported the crash to his supervisor. He was not injured.

Boise County Sheriff Ben Roeber and Chief Deputy DW Rogers responded to the crash along with two Idaho State Police troopers. The ISP is handling the crash investigation.

Deuel was arrested on suspicion of DUI and transported to Gem County jail. He is on paid administrative leave until an internal investigation is complete.
