Gyro Days, Derby combined this year

| May 27, 2011 9:00 PM

WALLACE - Gyro Days and the Lead Creek Derby this year, June 15-18, are being combined with the Gyro District VIII Convention in Wallace. An extra 150-200 Canadians are expected to attend, which should help make the 70th running of the Derby the best in recent history.

Registration packet items need to be delivered to the 1313 Club in Wallace by the end of the day Wednesday, June 8. At least 90 items must be provided from each participating business (each couple gets one packet). Items can be stickers, flyers, coupons, or anything else to share with our Canadian guests.

The weekend schedule is as follows:

Wednesday: Radio Day - Listen to the Gyros on 620 AM KWAL & stop by the station for free barbecue and buy some Derby Tickets.

Thursday: Carnival Starts - Taste of Wallace as the Canadians will eat out around town and then follow the Drum & Bugle Corps on a shirt tail around town.

Friday: Carnival continues and convention formal dinner at the Elks.

Saturday: 70th Lead Creek Derby - Be in Mullan at High Noon for the Ball Drop. Band in Wallace when the ball reaches town at the Depot playing into the night.

Be sure to buy some Derby Tickets. First prize is $1,000 in silver.
