Evan Jones, 85

Evan Jones was born April 15, 1926, in Passburg, Alberta, Canada, to his parents John and Gladys Jones.

Evan attended grade school and Grandview school in the Thompson Lake Harrison area. He enjoyed his life of ranching and raising cattle on Thompson Creek and Lake area near the Coeur d'Alene River.

He was a 4-H leader for more than 19 years and was on the Kootenai County Planning and zoning board. He was also a commissioner on the Eastside Highway District Board for 24 years, and a charter member of the Harrison Grange. He served as president for Kootenai County Cattlemen and also served two to three-year terms for Idaho Cattlemen Board.

Evan was always happy to help neighbors and friends. Evan and Marian were married for 63 years and enjoyed their family, and their nieces and nephew very much.

Evan is survived by his wife, Marian, at the home; a son, William "Bill" and wife Lesley; two grandchildren Caitlyn and Kody of Ephrata, Wash.; sister-in-law Rowena Jones; nieces Diana and husband Norman, Renie and husband Mac, April and husband Jeff, and nephew Lonnie and wife Jamie, all from Canada; niece Cindy and husband Warren of Tkuiti, New Zealand; and brother-in-law James Fisher and wife Jan of Jefferson, Ore.

Evan was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Jones; and his brother, Lloyd.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene, with burial to follow at Harrison Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends at the Harrison Grange on Main Street in Harrison will follow the service.

Family asks, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Billy Ryan Scholarship at Kootenai High School, 7393 E. Thompson Lake Road, Harrison, ID 83833 or to the Julie Wilson Memorial Fund, 4-H Scholarship, c/o Mt. West Bank, 125 Ironwood Drive, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814.
