'Tom Sawyer' to be presented at Kroc

| May 13, 2011 9:00 PM

The Inland Northwest's premiere production of 'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer' is being brought to the Kroc Community Theater stage by a cast of 100 local kids with a crew of adult volunteers.

This Broadway show is the adaptation of Twain's same named masterpiece. Ken Ludwig, playwright of musicals including Crazy for You, Lend Me a Tenor and An American in Paris, has provided a "theatrically lucid and intelligent adaptation of Twain's masterpiece, without sacrificing credibility to dramatic structure or moral honesty to histrionic preachiness."

The show opened in March 2001 at the Minskoff Theatre and on Broadway, it was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play, and won two Tonys, four Drama Desk and three Outer Critics Circle Awards. It has been translated into 16 languages and produced in more than 25 countries around the world. The show has been described as a "Joyous, wholesome, literate and wonderfully realized production guaranteed to dazzle children and adults alike.

Filled with foot-stomping, toe-tapping songs, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a tale of thrilling escapes, comedy and inspiration for the whole family."
