Silver Valley women injured in wreck

MOYIE SPRINGS - Three young women were injured Friday afternoon in a head-on vehicle collision on Eileen Road northeast of Bonners Ferry, according to Idaho State Police.

Driver Jayme D. Hahn, 20, of Osburn, and passengers Kershanda L. Nicholson, 20, of Wallace, and Kaitlyn M. Fausett, 20, of Wallace, were northbound at 2:14 p.m. in a 1996 Honda Accord when a 1995 GMC Sierra pickup fishtailed, crossed the center line and struck the Accord head-on, deputies said.

Hahn, Nicholson and Fausett were injured and transported to Boundary Community Hospital, deputies said. Fausett was later transported to Kootenai Medical Center, treated and released, according to KMC staff.

Boundary Community Hospital declined to release medical information on Hahn and Nicholson.

The driver of the pickup, Logan B. Moore, 20, of Thompson Falls, Mont., and passenger Thomas R. Elder, 17, of Thompson Falls, were not injured in the crash, deputies said. They left the scene and were later arrested in the area.

Moore was charged with felony DUI, felony leaving the scene of a crash and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, deputies said. Elder was charged with minor in possession of alcohol and leaving the scene of a crash.

Hahn was wearing a seatbelt when the collision occurred, deputies said; Fausett was not.

Deputies on Saturday did not know if Nicholson had been wearing a seatbelt in the crash.

Blanchard man hospitalized in Highway 41 crash

SPIRIT LAKE - A Blanchard man was hospitalized Friday night after his vehicle left the roadway on Idaho Highway 41, according to Idaho State Police.

Peter T. Gokey, 42, was northbound in a 2007 GMC Sierra pickup at 11 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve at Spirit Lake Cutoff Road, milepost 20.9, deputies said. The pickup went off the east shoulder and into trees along the road.

Gokey sustained injuries and was transported to Kootenai Medical Center, deputies said. He was in fair condition Saturday evening, according to hospital staff.

Gokey was wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred, deputies said.
