Kootenai County Young Professionals to hold annual Volunteer Fair April 14

| March 31, 2011 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - It's time for nonprofits to save a space at Kootenai County Young Professionals' fourth annual Volunteer Fair.

The event takes place April 14, during National Volunteer Week, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Ray & Joan Kroc Center in Coeur d'Alene.

The fair features local nonprofits that rely heavily on volunteers to provide important social services to the region.

"The idea is to help individuals who are interested in volunteering find an organization that matches their interests, time and talent," said KCYP President Heather Keen.

In addition to helping nonprofits provide essential services to those in need in the community, Keen said volunteering is a great way for job seekers to beef up their resumes or learn new skills.

Nonprofits are encouraged to RSVP as soon as possible; KCYP will cap the number of organizations due to space constraints. The Volunteer Fair will take place in the Kootenai, River, Osprey and Cedar Rooms at the Kroc Center, 1765 W. Golf Course Road. The Kootenai County Young Professionals is partnering with the Ray & Joan Kroc Center and the United Way of Kootenai County to bring this event to the community.

The event will be open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend.

Potential volunteers will be able to speak with representatives of the nonprofits to learn what each organization does for the community and what kind of tasks they need volunteers to provide.

Founded in 2007, KCYP's goal is to attract and retain young professionals to Kootenai County and provides opportunities for community service, education, professional development and social networking for its members.
