Highway 41 crash sends 3 to hospital
POST FALLS - Three people were hospitalized Monday when a car failed to stop at a red light on Highway 41 and crashed into a pickup truck, according to Idaho State Police.
At 3:22 p.m. Donald I. McSheehy IV, 16, of Rathdrum, was southbound in a 2007 Hyundai Accent approaching a red light at the intersection of Hayden Avenue, police said. McSheehy did not stop and struck a 1988 Chevrolet pickup traveling eastbound on Hayden Avenue, crossing the intersection on a green light.
Larry St. John, 61, of Coeur d'Alene, the driver of the pickup, was injured in the crash and transported to Kootenai Medical Center, police said.
Veronica D. Karlin, 18, of Coeur d'Alene, and Jessica A. Freitas, 18, of Rathdrum, both passengers in the Hyundai, were also injured and transported to KMC, police said.
McSheehy and a third passenger in the Hyundai, 17-year-old Cierra R. Holton of Rathdrum, were not injured in the crash.
On Tuesday morning, Freitas and Karlin had been treated and released, according to KMC staff. St. John had been admitted and was in good condition.
