Viks split at Lewiston tourney
LEWISTON - Senior Andrew Baracco went 2 for 3 with 4 RBIs as the Coeur d'Alene Vikings defeated the Sandpoint Bulldogs 11-7 in a Lewiston tournament game at Airport Park on Saturday.
Matt Lambert hit a solo home run in the third inning and Levi Pereira went 1 for 2 with two RBIs for Coeur d'Alene.
Eric Nikssarian hit a three-run home run for Sandpoint in the third inning.
In the second game, Ryan Wood hit two home runs as Rocky Mountain of Meridian defeated Coeur d'Alene 14-4 in five innings.
"Rocky Mountain is an extremely well coached team," Coeur d'Alene coach Nick Rook said. "That was a good measuring stick for us and we've got some work to do."
Lambert had two hits, including an RBI double in the third for Coeur d'Alene (6-1), which travels to Lake City on April 5.

Lake City drops two at tournament
Grant Curtis and Mark Smyly had hits in both games, but the Timberwolves went 0-2 in the Lewiston tournament on Saturday.
In their first game, Rocky Mountain jumped out to a 9-0 lead after two innings on the way to a 14-2 win at Prior Field in Clarkston.
Mitch Bevacqua, Curtis and Smyly all singled for Lake City, which got two runs in the third inning when Jason Pattis and Taylor Combo were each hit by pitches with the bases loaded.
Ryan Humphrey and Matt Kalbfleisch had three hits apiece as the Lewiston Bengals defeated Lake City in their second game of the day at Church Field in Lewiston in five innings.
"These games today were a good measuring stick for where we're at right now," Lake City coach Al Bevacqua said. "Now we know what we've got to work on and we're going to work our tails off to fix it."
Pete Hoffman had three hits in the nightcap for Lake City (1-2), which hosts Coeur d'Alene on April 5.

OROFINO - Clay Weeks singled to score the winning run with two outs in the seventh inning in the first game of a Maniac doubleheader sweep of the Lumberjacks in nonleague play.
Jordan Stapleton had three RBIs in the first game for St. Maries, which took a 7-6 lead in the top of the seventh inning.
Tanner Schwartz doubled and came around to score to tie the game with one out in the seventh for Orofino.
"Everyone in our lineup got a hit," St. Maries coach Craig Tefft said. "We hit well enough to win, but we just had some issues with our defense and pitching."
In the second game, Seth Melton drove in the winning run on a squeeze bunt to give the Maniacs a 15-14 win.
Bubba Pugh and Jaden Guidry had three hits apiece in the second game for St. Maries (0-3), which hosts Potlatch on Thursday.
