Shock lose to Iowa, drop to 0-3

DES MOINES, Iowa - Brad Banks threw for 244 yards and five touchdowns and ran for two scores as the Iowa Barnstormers defeated the Spokane Shock 43-42 in an Arena Football League game in front of 10,552 on Friday at the Wells Fargo Arena.

The loss drops the defending AFL champions to 0-3.

Iowa (1-1) took an early 12-7 lead, but the Shock scored the next 21 points of the first half as quarterback Kyle Rowley and Greg Orton connected on touchdown passes of 12 and 28 yards to take a 21-12 lead. Rowley hit Shaun Kauleinamoku on an 8-yard touchdown pass to give Spokane a 28-12 lead. Iowa scored the next 25 points to take a 37-28 lead.

Spokane pulled within 43-42 as Rowley hit Orton on a 47-yard touchdown pass with 13:03 left, but neither team scored again and Rowley was intercepted by Cameron McGlenn on the 1-yard line with 11 seconds left.

Spokane hosts Kansas City on Friday.
