HAYDEN - Freshman Brianna Bishop hit a two-run home run to give North Idaho College a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning, but the fifth-ranked Salt Lake Community College Bruins rallied to score the final seven runs in a 10-4 win on Friday at Finucane Park in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game.

The game was moved to Finucane after field conditions at Memorial Field and Coeur d'Alene High were unplayable.

Kristina DeAnda walked to lead off the bottom of the first inning for NIC (20-15, 13-11 SWAC) and came around to score on an RBI single by Shelby Gonzales. Blake Meredith scored on a groundout by Alyssa Erickson to give NIC a 2-0 lead after the first inning.

"We did very well at the plate and had some really good at bats," NIC assistant coach Angie Boardman said. "(Blake) Meredith pitched strong for us for the first five innings and really battled against many of their batters, throwing a high number of pitches. Salt Lake pulled ahead by taking advantage of the little things we weren't perfect on, but we talked about where we need to be stronger tomorrow."

Ariel Zimmerman had nine strikeouts for Salt Lake (31-6, 23-2).

The second game was not played Friday due to darkness. The teams will try to conclude their weekend series with a tripleheader starting at noon today at Finucane Park.
