Barrage to bring music to CHS
COEUR d'ALENE - Barrage, a high-octane string group that features an eclectic mix of music, song and dance will perform at Coeur d'Alene High School on May 11 at 7 p.m.
Tickets for the show are now on sale, and cost $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. They can be purchased by contacting jphillips@cdaschools.org
The last time Jim Phillips, instrumental music director at CHS, saw Barrage perform, it was before 4,000 music educators at the 2007 Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago.
"This is a wonderful opportunity to see a truly world-class performing group," Phillips said.
Barrage performances offer a fusion of cultures and musical styles combining contemporary world music influences, layered vocal arrangements and pulsating modern beats and rhythms.
The group features five violinists/vocalists, a drummer, bass player, and guitarist.
The public performance at CHS is part of the Barrage Educational Outreach Program. Since Barrage's formation in Calgary, Canada, in 1996, group members have played throughout the United States, and in countries around the world.
The concert at Coeur d'Alene High School is sponsored by the schools of the Coeur d'Alene School District.
