Joseph Glen Wark Jr., 85
Joseph Glen Wark Jr. went peacefully to be with the Lord on March 22, 2011, at his home in Hayden. He was born Oct. 18, 1925, on a float house in Springston to his parents Joseph Glen and Martelle Isabelle (Madson) Wark. He was one of three children.
Joe started school in Coeur d'Alene until he moved to Klickitat, Wash., before the second grade and continued there until he graduated from Klickitat High School in 1943. He joined the Navy in 1943 and went to the Naval Training Station in Farragut and served for three years during World War II. When he returned to the states, he attended Eastern Oregon College and worked for the Oregon State Police for more than three years before he was called back to active duty in 1951 to serve in the Korean War.
Joe enjoyed a 31-year career in law enforcement and he retired as the Juvenile Probation Officer in Coeur d'Alene. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, dining out, traveling and spending time with his family. Joe was also a member of the Masons and the Eagles.
He lived in Dalton Gardens for 45 years. Joe served 20 years on the Dalton Gardens City Council and also served one term as Dalton Gardens Mayor.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margie and her four children and their families; his son, Tim Douglas (Sue Graff) Wark of Wasilla, Alaska; his daughter, Jennifer Jo Gonser of Coeur d'Alene and Tim's two daughters.
Joe is preceded in death by first wife, Joan C. Wark.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene. A reception will immediately follow the service at the funeral home.
