Pedestrian killed in I-90 crash identified

The pedestrian who died in an accident on eastbound Interstate 90 near the state line on Saturday night has been identified as Dana M. Barton, 37, Coeur d'Alene.

According to Washington State Patrol, Barton was standing in the right lane about two miles east of Liberty Lake when she was struck by a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser driven by a 54-year-old Post Falls woman.

The cause of the accident and possible charges are under investigation. No other details were released.

The WSP spokesman was unavailable for comment on Monday afternoon. The trooper who handled the investigation is off until Thursday.
