Struble breaks record, Cd'A places 2nd
TRACK AND FIELD
SPOKANE - Junior Morgan Struble broke the Coeur d'Alene High school record in the 300 intermiediate hurdles in 45.08 seconds as the Vikings finished second in the Washington/Idaho track meet on Saturday at Central Valley High.
Struble eclipsed the record, previously held by Hanna Johnson (46.04).
Kinsey Gomez (1,600), Brittany Tackett (200) and the Viking 4x800 and 4x200 relay teams also won their events.
Jonathan Murray (discus) won with a throw of 158-feet, eight inches and David Norris (3,200/800), Carlos Martinez (100) and Addison Johnson (200) also for the Coeur d'Alene boys, which finished second.
"I thought we did quite well, and so did Lake City," Coeur d'Alene coach Linda Lanker said. "It was a lot of fun being on the same side as them."
Lake City finished third to help the Idaho team made up of Cd'A, Lake City and Lakeland defeated the Washington team of Central Valley and Moses Lake in the second year of the matchup.
Kaleb Mitchell (300 hurdles), Brittany Pope (high jump), Kierstie Shellman (pole vault) also had individual wins for Lake City.
Coeur d'Alene, Lake City and Post Falls will compete in the Christina Finney Relays on Thursday at Post Falls High.

LAPWAI - Garret Wendt and Cody Seaton were first and second in the high jump for Kellogg, which finished second in the boys team standings at the 18-team Lapwai Invitational.
The 2A Grangeville Bulldogs swept the boys and girls team titles.
Taylor Sheppard won the high jump and placed second in both the 100 and 300 hurdles for Kellogg, who also finished second in the girls team standings.
The Coeur d'Alene Charter girls were fourth in the girls team scoring.

West sweeps East
MULLAN - Timberlake's Caitlyn Nichols and Lake City's Mark Smyly earned MVP honors for their respective teams during Saturday's annual District 1 All-Star Games at the Mullan Pavilion.
In girls action West outscored East 62-48 while the West boys defeated the East 105-72.
Wallace's Taylor Pasley took the girls three-point contest hitting six of ten during halftime of the girls game while the boys three-ball award went to Aaron Moe after proving himself in a three-way tie breaker against Zach Lehman of St. Maries and Jaden Barrett of Priest River. All three initially hit seven of ten three point shots.
St. Maries' Ian Heath threw down a rim-jarring reverse 360 (degree) dunk to clinch the slam dunk contest at halftime of the boys game.

Trojans fall twice
in nonleague play
KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Trojans fell to Southridge 4-3 and Richland 9-0 in a pair of nonleague games on Saturday at Southridge High.
"We got better from yesterday to today," Post Falls coach Jack Foster said. "We definitely played better than on Friday. Offensively we did some good things, but we need to work on things defensively."
Southridge capitalized on a pair of errors in the bottom of the seventh inning to get a 4-3 victory.
