Ethel Leota Jackson Venema, 90

Ethel Leota Jackson Venema, of Hayden Lake, died March 14, 2011, at the age of 90. Ethel was born Oct. 20, 1920, in Kankakee, Ill., to Bascom W. Sr. and Leona Lake Jackson.

She was married to William J. Venema on Oct. 20, 1939, who preceded her in death in April 2001.

Ethel loved to cook, sew and listen to music as well as enjoying time with her kids and grandkids. She also liked to attend garage sales and outdoor Flea Markets.

Ethel is survived by her three children, Dennis L. Venema of Round Mountain, Calif., Vicki Lyn Venema Shelly of Harrison and Larry W. Venema of Santa Clarita, Calif.; along with four grandchildren Robert E. Shelly Jr., Michael W. Shelly, Larry M. Venema and Jaclyn Dee Venema Ellis and her great-grandchild, Reid William Venema.

Ethel was preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille Jackson Richmond, Gladys Jackson Zbinden and brother Bascom Jackson, and is survived by brothers, Donald Jackson of Tolucca, Ill., James Jackson of Newport, Calif., and Charles Jackson of Lake Odessa, Mich.; sisters, Louise Jackson Hamende of St. Elmo, Ill., Ruth Jackson Lafeave of El Paso, Texas, Shirley Jackson Wooldridge of Bourbonnais, Ill., Thelma Jackson Alcorn of Watseca, Ill., Lillian Jackson Hansen of Kankakee, Ill., and Phyllis Jackson Knecht of Tennessee.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Wellspring Meadows Assisted Care Facility located at 9873 Buttercup Lane, Hayden Lake. Services will be conducted by Pastor Kurt Neely of The Altar Church, Coeur d'Alene.
