Vikings break out bats, rout Bullpups

| March 17, 2011 10:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - Lindsie Scholwinski and Hailey Petit each went 2 for 4 with two RBIs as the Coeur d'Alene Vikings defeated the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups 11-6 in a nonleague game at Larry Schwenke Field on Wednesday.

"We came out and jumped on them right away," Coeur d'Alene coach Larry Bieber said. "We got two singles right away and (Jessica) Luppinacci drove one in on a fielder's choice. It was kind of cold and sloppy in the outfield, but I was proud of the way the kids swung the bats."

Nikki Ragsdale and Scholwinski had five strikeouts apiece and Luppinacci, Kyeli Parker and Elli Tindall all had two hits each for Coeur d'Alene (2-0), which travels to University High in Spokane today.
