Man arrested on rape allegation
POST FALLS - A 38-year-old Post Falls man was arrested on Tuesday night for allegedly raping a teen girl.
Terrence W. Turner was being held on Wednesday at the Kootenai County jail on a $150,000 bond. He was being held on one count of rape and one count of sexual battery, but further rape charges during the past two years are pending.
Turner allegedly used intimidation during the incidents, police said.
Turner's previous jail bookings - all in the '90s - were for driving while suspended and probation violation.
Bill seeks to modify sex offender policy
BOISE (AP) - A bill that would bring Idaho's policy for managing sex offenders in line with national standards is making its way through the Legislature.
The Senate Judiciary and Rules Committee unanimously approved a bill modifying the policy Wednesday. The bill was then placed on a track for additional amendments.
Idaho Criminal Justice Commission official Steve Bywater says the bill would replace the state's Sexual Offender Classification Board with a bigger, nine-member panel responsible for monitoring sexual offenders.
The bill would also establish a series of new requirements for sexual offenders to report to the board.
