PRESS: Headlines are showing bias

| March 16, 2011 10:00 PM

I am submitting this letter for your editorial section to see if there are any other people who are as concerned as I am that your paper is falling into the trap of biasing their headlines in cases where people's reputations are at stake and trying the cases in the newspaper instead of the court of law where people are presumed to be innocent until proven otherwise.

These headlines many times are misleading and biased to the point of saying overtly that one is guilty until proven innocent. It sure bothers me a lot that The Press has fallen under the same malaise the big city newspapers use in order to sensationalize a situation unfairly to sell more newspapers. That is why I don't subscribe to the Spokane News. They are extremely biased in their news reporting and misleading headlines. But, I expect more from the Coeur d'Alene Press that gives me unbiased news I can trust.
