Homestyle cooking to benefit Coeur d'Alene Senior Center
A North Idaho restaurant has decided to thank its senior citizen customer base by going with its strong suit and serving up comfort food and raising money for the Lake City Senior Center.
On Sunday, May 20, and again on May 27, Mulligan's Bar and Grill in the Coeur d'Alene Inn will donate 10 percent of the day's proceeds to the Lake City Senior Center to help with their daily operational needs.
Steve Wilson, manager of the Coeur d'Alene Inn, said it was decided to stretch the fundraiser over two Sundays to give more people a chance to dine on great food and help the Senior Center.
"Our senior customers have played a big part in our restaurant's success over the years," Wilson said. "So it's our turn to help out during these tough times. We felt giving to the Senior Center was a good start."
Mulligan's executive chef Gene Tillman will offer special value priced "home cooked" meals throughout the day for both Sunday events.
SL Start moves Hayden office to Coeur d'Alene
SL Start LLC, a Spokane-based developmental disability agency, has moved its Hayden office to Coeur d'Alene after 17 years.
SL Start had been leasing about 2,600 square feet of space at 579 W. Hayden Ave.
It has moved that office to 7905 Meadowlark Way, where it is leasing 6,700 square feet of space. It has 53 employees.
It is currently serving 80 participants, including 35 kids.
"We just outgrew the old space," said Sean Jonz, regional director, who oversees the Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint offices.
"We wanted to have separate space devoted for children and adults," Jonz said. "It will allow us to promote delivery of better quality therapy experiences."
He said there will be an open house from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30.

Shaffer has been providing care in her home for 14 years.
