SAFETY: Cheers for road funding

| March 13, 2011 10:00 PM

I just read the article "U.S. 95 will become safer roadway." I was so thrilled to hear that the budget writers have authorized funding for the Garwood to Granite Hill project.

We were coming home to Hayden from Sandpoint two weeks ago when a car careened out of control going up Granite Hill and hit another SUV head on, then spun around and hit our truck. Two vehicles were totaled and two people were hurt and sent to the hospital. One dog was killed.

According to one trooper I spoke to, Granite Hill is notoriously one of the most dangerous parts of Highway 95 north of Coeur d'Alene. I just hope this legislation includes Granite Hill, not just "to" Granite Hill.

There are also two very dangerous turns on the right and left halfway up the hill which should be addressed, as I've seen near wrecks there on even a good day. I'm very glad they are addressing this issue. None too soon!
