Chiefs edge Ice in SO

SPOKANE - Levko Koper scored the lone goal of the shootout as the Spokane Chiefs won their seventh straight game, 4-3 over the Kootenay Ice in front of 8,802 at the Spokane Arena on Saturday night in Western Hockey League play.

Dominik Uher scored on the power play midway through the first period to become the seventh Chiefs player with 20 goals this season, one off the team record.

Former Coeur d'Alene Laker Tyler Johnson scored his league-leading 51st goal early in the second to give Spokane the lead. Mike Aviani added a goal to make it 3-1.

Spokane (45-17-4-2, 96 points) remains one point behind Portland for first place in the U.S. Division and top seed in the Western Conference playoffs.

Spokane hosts Chilliwack on Wednesday.
