Planning to open in April in Post Falls, Bi-Plane Brewing Co. will celebrate the feats of early aviators and high-flying exploration with hand-crafted ales. The brew pub will offer brewed beer in pint glasses and a snack menu at 4082 E. Primrose Lane in Highway 41 Plaza north of Interstate 90.

"We hope to educate our customers on the process of brewing fresh ales," said Nadine Martindale, owner with her husband, Doug. "We'll show the many kinds of brews available and the best way to serve them. Our brews are named for famous biplanes and highlight their claims to fame as they relate to the ale recipes."

The tap house will have seating for 15 customers and also offer four kinds of containers for draft beer at home. The walls will be decorated with murals of the planes, and the menus will have short histories of the planes and the basics of the brew recipes. The Martindales have been home brewers for many years.

Advanced Dermatology to Riverstone

Construction begins soon on a 9,000-square-foot building for Advanced Dermatology & Skin Surgery just south of the Bardenay Restaurant in the Riverstone complex.

With completion anticipated for the end of September, the building will be a clinic and surgery center for skin cancer and various skin conditions.

The practice includes six physicians, a physician's assistant and a nurse practitioner. Owners Joel Sears, Staci Hestdalen, Paul Dunn and Joseph Cvandara (all physicians) also have a medical center in Spokane.

The dermatologists will specialize in surgical, medical and cosmetic skin care needs with a laser center, aesthetic department and skin care products. Check www.advancederm.net.

Vulles men buy Schaffer's Towing

Father and son Tim and Terry Vulles now own and operate Schaffer's Towing at 625 W. Dalton Ave. They offer vehicle recovery and towing with four recovery units (wreckers), four rollbeds and two medium and heavy-duty towing units.

Started in 1969 by Dave Schaffer, the business will retain his name because of its recognition with quality service, Tim Vulles said. Both originally from Thompson Falls, Mont., Tim graduated from North Idaho College and was with the Army before retiring from 23 years with the Coeur d'Alene Police Department and Terry graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School and the University of Montana in business. The business has six employees.

With 24-hour service, phones are 687-8910 and 818-1809.

Big Country Communications reopens

Recovering from its roof caving in with the heavy snow of last winter, Big Country Communications has reopened at 128 E. Locust Ave.

The business offers electronic technology-based management and supervision tools including video recording, computer access and Smartphones. The systems "see" and "record" what they see, according to Jim Van Sky. They also help businesses with "earlier" systems with turn-key solutions, site surveys, installation, training and support. Van Sky and his wife, Teresa, came to North Idaho from Oklahoma in 1975.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and by appointment. Phone 765-0620.

• In a clarification from two weeks ago, owners of Syringa Family Partnerships and Inspired Child Preschool are Colleen Sisk and Dianna Walde respectively. Both will be in the new building under construction on Wayne Boulevard in Hayden.

• Ah, a great deal more activity will be happening in Riverstone. We'll get that to you as we receive it.
