LEWISTON (AP) - Lewis-Clark State College announced the resignation of men's basketball coach Tim Walker after six seasons.

Athletics director Gary Picone said Thursday the college will begin a national search immediately and hopes to have a new coach hired by mid-April.

Walker's teams posted a 61-33 overall record and a 28-14 Frontier Conference record over his first three seasons and advanced to the NAIA national tournament in 2007 and 2008. His teams went 41-41 overall and 16-26 in league play over the last three seasons.

Walker grew up in Absarokee, Mont., and played basketball at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont., graduating in 1990. Walker coached in the high school ranks for two years and was an assistant coach at Montana State-Northern for three seasons before serving as head coach at Northern from 1997-2001. He was an assistant at Lewis-Clark for four seasons before being named the head coach.
