A 'bold' taste
POST FALLS - The selection is simple.
But Matt Miller and Cory Temple like to refer to the food of their new Taco Loco Taqueria restaurant in Post Falls as "bold."
"Our menu is pretty plain," Miller said. "But we wanted to stick to what we do best."
Miller said the restaurant at 504 E. Seltice Way across from Community 1st Bank offers "authentic street Mexican food."
The menu includes soft chicken, pulled pork or marinated steak tacos for $1.50, a 2-pound burrito for $5.25 and tostadas for $5. Sides of rice and beans can be added for $4 and chips and salsa $3.75.
"Our pulled pork is boiled in beer for four hours," Miller said.
Temple added: "Our food doesn't taste mass-produced. It's bold and made with heart."
Cheese, sour cream and ground beef are not used in the menu items.
The restaurant has a small seating area and offers take-out and catering services.
"There's sit-down Mexican restaurants, but there's no other sit-down taquerias in the area (that offer street-style food that's fresh, but quickly prepared)," Miller said. "We have a lot of to-go orders."
Miller and Temply formerly operated the Taco Loco trailer at Frontier Grocery on West Seltice. The trailer is used for catering now.
"We have a good following, so that's a blessing," Miller said. "There's also a lot of people from Californian and Hispanic people in the area."
The restaurant opened on Friday. Post Falls' Karen Weiford stopped by for a take-out order on Wednesday after attending the grand opening.
"I love Mexican food and I'll be a regular here," Weiford said.
Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Miller said it will also be open on Saturdays starting this spring.
