Move your garbage cans

COEUR d'ALENE - It's almost time to take your garbage cans back to the alley.

Alley garbage collection in Coeur d'Alene is scheduled to resume on Monday, March 21.

Meanwhile, garbage cans will be required to move from the alley to the street every winter.

Waste Management is requesting the city look at putting alley pickup to the street from November to the first week in April every winter.

It's a practice that has been common during heavy winters, but now the department wants the city to put it in writing.

Street pickup is easier for the trucks than is alley pickup during inclement weather.
