Gail Lois Grannis Smith, 65
My dear wife and best friend, Gail Lois Grannis Smith, walked arm-in-arm into heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Feb. 28, 2011. She was born Sept. 19, 1945, in Fairbanks, Alaska, to her parents Charles W. Grannis and Zelma D. Rose.
Gail and her husband Mike were foster parents for six years, prior to adopting their three children from China: Katie, 9, David, 8, and Ellie, 6. The family moved to Spokane, Wash., to Post Falls in 2006, and two years later, purchased a home in Dalton Gardens where they attended Coeur d'Alene Bible Church, and the children attended Coeur d'Alene Christian School.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Mike; her sons, Ernie Kroll and David Smith; and her daughters, Kim Clifford, Katie Smith and Ellie Smith.
Prior to her cancer diagnosis, Gail was active in homeschooling her children, and loved cooking, quilting and gardening. She will be missed very much.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, at Coeur d'Alene Bible Church, with Pastor Dick Hege officiating.
If so desired, contributions can be made to Coeur d'Alene Christian School or North Idaho Hospice.
