Robert David Egerer, 66

| March 7, 2011 8:00 AM

Robert David Egerer (Buffalo Bob) surrendered on Feb. 23, 2011, to a long, hard-fought battle with COPD. Born in Long Island, N.Y., in 1945, Bob was the youngest son of Leonard and Lina Egerer.

At age 7, Bob's family moved to San Diego, Calif., where he lived until embarking on a life-changing adventure to work on a cattle ranch in Montana the summer he was 18.

Bob was proud to be a Navy man, enlisting in 1964 and serving for five years. His last tour of duty was aboard the minesweeper USS Reaper.

In 1968 Bob married Connie Hanson from Winnett, Mont. After living in California for 10 years, Bob and Connie traveled the Northwest in search of the perfect place to raise their family, and happily called Coeur d'Alene their home since 1979. Bob was very committed to his career in the food service industry where he developed many special friendships.

Bob is survived by his wife, Connie; his daughters, Jenifer (Franks) of Coeur d'Alene and Sara of Atascadero, Calif.; and his grandsons, Dylan (9) and Kaden (7) Franks, world champion drivers of the go-cart their Papa Bob was so ecstatic about getting for them last summer. Bob's surviving brothers are Wilfred and Joseph Egerer of northern California.

Bob will always be remembered for his amazing generosity, his extraordinary sense of humor and his incredibly kind heart.

At Bob's request, no services were held.
