Jimmy John's now open
Offering "freaky good sandwiches freaky fast," Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches opened this week in the southwest (most visible) corner of Coeur d'Alene Town Center at Appleway and Government Way. The store offers 17 sub (regular) and club (twice the size) sandwiches, unwiches (wrapped in lettuce instead of bread), several sides, beverages, box lunches, platters and daily delivery and catering.
The company started in 1983 when 19-year-old Jimmy John Liautaud decided to make and sell the best gourmet sandwiches to earn his way through college. There's now more than 1,000 stores and a cool website at www.jimmyjohns.com.
Local part-owner/manager Ben McFarlane has about 30 employees and prides the store on its fresh bread and ingredients. Official hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, but they're usually open much earlier, he said. Phone 666-0123.
JB's reopens
with new owner
Closing for less than a week, JB's Restaurant in front of the Shilo Inn on Appleway has opened with a new owner. The former owning company out of Phoenix closed about 20 JB's, but another Arizona company, Star Buffet out of Scottsdale, bought and reopened the JB's in Coeur d'Alene and Helena. Star Buffet has about 35 restaurants, including the 4-B's chain in seven Montana towns.
Offering its same menu as before, including a breakfast buffet and soup and salad bar, JB's opens at 6 a.m. daily and closes at 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant seats 140 customers at tables and booths and can accommodate groups.
Andrea Sawyer manages 15-20 employees. Phone 765-3225.
