Duke to speak at Gonzaga this month
COEUR d'ALENE - Actress Patty Duke will be speaking at Gonzaga University later this month.
The Unity Multicultural Education Center at Gonzaga University runs a monthly Cultural Awareness Night event that usually features a "culturally relevant film and discussion."
For the recognition of Women's History Month in March, it is showing the movie the "Miracle Worker" that starred Duke.
Duke, a Hayden Lake resident, will be available afterward to discuss her role in the movie, the context of the movie and how the movie's success has affected her.
The event will be held at 7 p.m. March 25 at Wolff Auditorium in the Jepson business building.
It is free.
U.S. Masters to hold swim meet today
COEUR d'ALENE - Master swimmers will be hitting the water today.
The U.S. Masters Swimming team will be holding a swim meet from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Kroc Community Center.
Around 100 competitors from Montana, Washington, Canada and Idaho expected to splash it out in a number of races, from relays to individual 1,500 meter long hauls.
Masters Swimming, with its local team The Lake City Masters, is open to anyone 19 and older.
The pool will be closed to the public for the meet.
