LEVY: Some good - and bad

| March 3, 2011 4:59 AM

Regarding the March 8th M & O Levy for the schools, the election practice seems to have improved. Now the entire public is made aware of these levies prior to the vote. Not just those involved within the schools directly. So let me applaud this change.

However, the current ballot is set up a bit skewed, in my opinion.  If you vote NO on the first bond, you’re not even allowed to vote for the second bond at all. Only if you vote YES on the first bond are you allowed to vote on the second bond. That means that no matter how you vote, one of these bills will surely pass.  Not exactly a fair and true opportunity for the voting (and taxpaying) public.
