Bonnie Roberta Duke, 84

Bonnie Roberta Duke, 84, of Post Falls, passed from this life into the presence of her Savior on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene. She was born Jan. 23, 1927, to Kathrine Augusta (Bankey) Stelting and Grover Wallace Stelting.

Bonnie grew up in Eugene, Ore., and was attending Standard Bible Institute when she met Tom Duke. They were married Aug. 4, 1948.

Bonnie was a dedicated wife and mother. She followed Tom throughout his career in the U.S. Navy. In 1964 they moved to Hayden Lake when Tom was assigned to duty in the Navy Recruiting Office in Coeur d'Alene. When he retired from the U.S. Navy, Bonnie worked with Tom as the office manager for his plumbing business. For 62 years they were a team. In addition to family and work, Bonnie enjoyed life. She was an accomplished artist, horse lover and enjoyed fishing, reading, taking pictures and gardening.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Tom; children: Suzi Rogers of Hayden, and Mike and Teri Duke of Hayden; five grandchildren: Caleb and Nicole Duke of Coeur d'Alene, Abigail Duke and Damaris Duke of Hayden, and Angela Duke of Clarkston, Wash. She is also survived by her sister, Joy Lincoln of Roseberg, Ore., and her brother and sister-in-law Ed and Irene Stelting of Eugene.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel. Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel, is entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
