McEUEN: Base it on public's wants

| March 2, 2011 9:00 PM

Regarding Dave Walker's article posted at cdapress.com on Feb. 21, McEuen committee of 9 looked ahead:

Anytime you hear a local official or politician say, "a vote is a waste of time and money," on an issue in which the public is demanding one, you've got a problem. Mr. Walker says he doesn't know what the vote would be on. Is he serious? After more than 10 years of studies, committees, attorneys, civic entities and council meetings, you'd think someone could come up with a voting criteria that would disclose an accurate understanding of the general public's expectations. Walker also said, "neither side wins" with a public vote, but we certainly know who wins without one.

Let's improve McEuen Park based on what the community wants, not what our public officials think we need.
