Leonard, a sophomore from Lakeland High in Rathdrum, won the shot put championship at the Washington State Open on Feb. 19 with a season-best throw of 45 feet, 3 inches, giving her the best mark in the Western Athletic Conference this season. Leonard also competed in the weight throw, claiming seventh with a throw of 48-5 1/4 as she was named the WAC Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 14-20.

Brian Maldonado

De Anza (Cupertino, Calif.) track and field

Maldonado, a redshirt freshman from Timberlake High, won the 200-meter dash in 22.61 seconds on Saturday at Monterey Peninsula College. Maldonado also ran the anchor leg of the 4x100 relay team, which also won at the meet held in Monterey, Calif. He also won the 200 in 23.21 in the season-opening Coast Conference Preview Meet at Hartnell College in Salinas, Calif., on Feb. 18.

Turbin, a redshirt freshman from Coeur d'Alene High and a transfer from Oregon State, is batting .410 (25 of 61) in 15 starts for the NAIA Warriors (9-6) of Santa Barbara, Calif. Turbin leads the team in runs scored (14) and total bases (33).

Corsi, a sophomore from St. Maries High, had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors in a 91-82 win over Blue Mountain on Feb. 23 in Pendleton, Ore.

Pingel, a sophomore from Post Falls High, scored 23 points on 5 of 9 from beyond the 3-point line in an 89-70 win over Wenatchee Valley on Feb. 23.

Shae Carson

Carson, a freshman from Coeur d'Alene High, finished ninth in the shot put with a season-high throw of 42 feet, 6 1/4 inches at the Big Sky Indoor Championships on Saturday in Pocatello.

Dayna Drager

College of Idaho basketball

Drager, a freshman from Coeur d'Alene High, is eighth in the Cascade Conference in 3-point percentage on 34 of 88 shots for a .386 percentage for the Lady Yotes, which advanced to the NAIA Division II tournament March 9-15 in Sioux City, Iowa.
