Housing and Finance honors 75 North Idaho Realtors

The Idaho Housing and Finance Association recently honored 75 North Idaho Realtors who helped homebuyers utilize its IdaMortgage Home Loan program.

The Realtors represented 195 buyers who purchased their homes with IdaMortgage home loans in the last two years - representing a collective total of more than $29 million in loan reservations.

"Realtors play a key role in providing information about the IdaMortgage Loan program," said Susan Semba, IHFA Homeownership Lending Director. "This partnership is important to the success of our IdaMortgage program."

The Gold Award went to Gary Schmidt of Coldwell Banker Schneidmiller Realty for representing 17 IdaMortgage homebuyers.

The Silver Award went to Chad Salsbury of Windermere Coeur d'Alene Realty for representing eight IdaMortgage homebuyers.

The Bronze Award went to Tammy and Brian Waggoner of Windermere Hayden Realty for representing eight IdaMortgage homebuyers.

In North Idaho alone, more than 10,600 families have received IdaMortgage loans through IHFA, an investment of more than $900 million.

East Greenacres Irrigation District manager honored

Ron Wilson, manager for East Greenacres Irrigation District in Post Falls was presented with the Water Management Award Wednesday by the state's largest water user group during its 74th annual convention in Boise.

Julie Sievers, committee chair presented the Water Management Award to Wilson for his work in upgrading the district's pump controls and improving the district's efficiency in water management.

He has directed and managed programs aimed at conservation of the Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer water resource by reducing the district's water Loss and continues to serve on the Rathdrum Prairie Comprehensive Aquifer Management Plan Advisory Committee, deliberating on water supply and demand issues looking out 50 years into the future.

Firefighters, law enforcement officers can get taxes done free

Liberty Tax Service offers free tax preparation next week to salute local firefighters and law enforcement officers. These tax breaks on preparation fees will be in effect from Monday, March 7 to Saturday, March 19 for those who are first-time customers.

Three-week 'Opportunities' class available for women

It's not too late to sign up for a free, three-week long "Opportunities" class for women in transition. The Center for New Directions class is being offered from 9 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from March 1 to March 18.

The class will help build self-confidence and create positive attitudes. Participants will listen to guest speakers from the community, receive labor market and education information and take assessments to discover strengths and personality types. Free career assessments will be offered to discover individual strengths and personality traits.

Silver Creek Senior Apartments to hold groundbreaking

Silver Creek Senior Apartments, 573 N. Idahline Road, Post Falls, will have a groundbreaking 11 a.m. Friday.
